
William Secnik is a key member of the Fiera Real Estate senior management team with 28 years of real estate experience. In January 2020, he was appointed the fund manager of the FRE CORE Fund. As fund manager, William is responsible for its overall strategy and performance while maintaining client relationships. This top quartile open-ended pooled fund is well diversified by sector and region with 114 assets and C$4.7bn in gross asset value as at Q4 2024. William joined FRE in 2017, where he initially led the investments team. Under William’s leadership, the team sourced, underwrote and structured investment transactions for FRE’s various real estate strategies. During this period, FRE transacted more than C$1.4bn in real estate assets.
Prior to joining FRE, William was fund manager for a C$1.9bn open-ended pooled fund with 128 assets comprising 10.6m sq ft of real estate across Canada. As head of the fund, William executed more than C$620m of transactions and drove the fund to top quartile performance.
William was also previously a senior member of a TSX-listed firm, where he focused on growing the firm’s mixed-use portfolio while divesting non-core assets. He has overseen transactions in all real estate asset classes and has expertise in acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, repositioning’s/value-add and dispositions, on behalf of a cross-section of investment vehicles, such as core and opportunity funds, as well as leading TSX-listed firms, in competitive and rapidly evolving environments.
William holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in urban & regional planning from Ryerson University and graduated from University of British Columbia’s Urban Land Economics Program. He is also a board member of Dom Lipa, a not-for-profit organisation providing long-term care, and a guest speaker at John Molson School of Business – Concordia University.
