The City of Derby's position as the UK's Capital for Innovation was further enhanced last month with the UK Government's announcement of a £9billion deal with Rolls-Royce, focused on fortifying its nuclear submarine activity in Derby.
It is within this context that Derby's pitch at MIPIM 2025 focuses on the radical transformation of the city centre as a place to live, work and visit, as well as launching of the Infinity Park Derby Investment Zone.
The city centre offer includes the Cultural Heart of the City investment - anchored around the Market Place - incorporating the Assembly Rooms and Guildhall Theatre sites, as well as launching a City Centre First Office Prospectus aimed at attracting 250,000sq ft of new Grade A office locations to complement the existing eco-system of managed work space and single use secondary market.
In addition, the University of Derby is bringing forward opportunities for a new City Centre Campus clustered around the new £70m Business School opening this year.
The Infinity Park Derby Investment Zone will offer significant Government backed incentives to research and development, tech based, advanced manufacturing uses, building on the Rolls-Royce Nuclear Skills Academy and its adjacent Aerospace Campus.
